Governance - Overview
In competitive education/job market, each college has a reputation to protect. Reputation is a more reliable tool than standardization to sustain the quality of education.
Any enforced and rigid academic framework deprives the good and creative teachers of the opportunity of thinking out of the box and to take initiatives towards implementation of the new and innovative changes in the teaching and evaluation methodologies.
To mitigate these challenges and to aim continuous improvement in line with the dynamic industry demand, in the year 2012 GMRIT got the Autonomous status from UGC for six years i.e till 2018. This has enabled academic freedom to the teachers and institute demanding more responsibility from the stake holders. Further, in the year 2018 with the revised UGC guidelines, GMRIT is the first college in the state of AP to get the Autonomous status extended till 2028 without any committee visit.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) established in the college shall regular monitor all the academic operations as per the academic regulations and SOPs set for each of the various processes. IQAC Cell with external members nominated form universities of repute shall conduct academic audit annually while internal academic audit will be done every semester. Annual quality assurance report (AQAR) shall be put on public domain on the website of the College.
